In 2013 the previous operator of the site in Engine Lane had their Environmental Permit withdrawn. Following a period of negotiation between the operator, landlord and the Environment Agency it became apparent that the operator no longer had funds available to continue in a manner which was in compliance with the terms of the lease or indeed their regulatory permit. The landowner served notice on the tenant to leave the site and sought solutions from the market to deal with the baled waste material, which had been left abandoned on the site. Broad Environmental was appointed in January 2015 to begin removing the material for onward processing and recovery.
What We Did
As an experienced waste management business Broad Environmental was able to quickly mobilise the site. A temporary weighbridge was installed and calibrated on site together with the required plant and machinery, which was appropriate to support the loading of the material for onward movement and processing.
